Bio

Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo is a naturopathic physician, researcher, and software engineer who serves as Director for the John Patrick University School of Integrative and Functional Medicine’s Precision Medicine & Bioinformatics concentration. A retired Distinguished Professor of Clinical Sciences at the University of Bridgeport, Dr. D’Adamo is considered a world expert in glycobiology, principally the ABO (ABH) blood groups and secretor (FUT2) polymorphisms. His research career has focused on personalized medicine approaches, nutrigenomics, and epigenetics, with particular emphasis on the relationship between genetic variations and individualized therapeutic protocols.

Dr. D’Adamo has authored New York Times bestselling books that have sold over 8 million copies and been translated into over 75 languages, including “Eat Right 4 Your Type” and “The GenoType Diet.” As both a researcher and software developer, he has personally coded bioinformatics applications including Opus23, a clinical genomic/microbiome analysis tool, and SWAMI, a program that generates personalized diet and health protocols. His work bridges traditional naturopathic principles with cutting-edge genomic science, making him a pioneer in precision medicine applications within integrative healthcare. Dr. D’Adamo was awarded Physician of the Year by the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians in 1990 and received the 2023 Leadership Award from the Integrative Healthcare Symposium, recognizing his significant contributions to advancing evidence-based personalized medicine research.
