Data-Driven
Insights for
Whole Person
Care
What if doctors could use real-world data to better understand how natural treatments work?
An exciting new research project has accomplished just that.
A team of naturopathic doctors and researchers analyzed deidentified patient records from naturopathic primary care clinics across the United States. Funded by RAND Reach, the project used a shared digital platform (CharmHealth), through which experts from the Institute for Natural Medicine, National University of Natural Medicine, and Oregon Health & Science University analyzed documentation of core naturopathic practices, like nutrition counseling, lifestyle modification, and whole person care, and how they improved patient health. For example, did blood sugar levels significantly improve with healthier everyday habits?
The team also explored how best to organize the data for supporting future research.
Study findings will be shared in a July 2026 poster presentation and submitted to a peer-reviewed journal for publication.
As the first initiative of its kind in natural medicine, this project has paved the path for stronger studies, better health tracking, and more evidence-based support for personalized care.
