Paul Kalnins, ND, MS
Co-Investigator, Project Manager
Dr. Paul Kalnins is a naturopathic physician and healthcare data scientist serving as Co-Principal Investigator on the ND-EHR Analysis Project at the Helfgott Research Institute, National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM). He holds a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine, a master’s degree in East Asian medicine, and a master’s degree in bioinformatics and computational biomedicine from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), where he also completed a National Library of Medicine postdoctoral fellowship. As the project’s primary data engineer and analyst, he architected one of the first FHIR-based, multi-clinic electronic health record research infrastructures for naturopathic medicine — building the data pipeline and clinical cohort analyses that support outcomes research in integrative care.
Dr. Kalnins previously served for more than seventeen years as an assistant professor at NUNM, teaching physiology, biochemistry, pathology, and endocrinology while supervising patient care, and he maintains an independent telehealth practice focused on complex, chronic, and systems-oriented health concerns.
