Hakima Amri, PhD
Professor at Georgetown University, Co-Founder of CAM Graduate Program
Dr. Amri is a professor of biochemistry and physiology in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology at Georgetown University. She is the founding director of Georgetown’s Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences graduate program, co-founder of the Complementary and Integrative Medicine graduate program, and leads the Whole Person Health and Wellness Division.
Dr. Amri’s research bridges evidence-based integrative medicine and biomedical research. She has explored the effects of herbal products on prostate and breast cancer and the efficacy of acupuncture in stress reduction. She is also developing a cost-effective, noninvasive diagnostic tool that translates genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics data into molecular signatures in a multidimensional and dynamic model. Her widely published works include numerous journal articles, reviews, presentations, and two books, Molecular Medicine and Avicenna’s Medicine. She earned her MS in reproductive physiology and PhD in steroid biochemistry from Sorbonne–Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris.
