Bio
Anthony Mavromatis is a strategic and innovative leader in the field of applied artificial intelligence (AI) with a track record of developing at-scale ecosystems focused on delivering highly personalized experiences that anticipate customer needs and drive shareholder value. Known as a collaborative partner, he builds trusted relationships with the business to provide creative, practical, and forward-thinking solutions that unlock the power of data, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing.
He is a hands-on expert with a personal interest in graph-based learning, holding 16 patents. Anthony artfully operates at the intersection of technology, data science, business, and the customer, igniting and influencing innovative thinking, decision making, and action at all levels of the organization that drive measurable business impact. As a leader, he brings passion to creating organizations built on open communication, empowerment, exceptionalism, and continuous growth.
Anthony is currently the Head of Real-Time Analytics and Machine Learning at JP Morgan Chase’s Consumer & Commercial Banking division where he leads strategy and delivery of real-time intelligence and Artificial Intelligence solutions powering use cases across the firm. Prior to Chase, Anthony navigated a progressive tenure of more than 15 years with American Express, most recently serving as VP, Global Customer Data Science & Platforms. In this role, he led the conception and delivery of AI solutions and capabilities powering personalized engagement and marketing for the enterprise. He also drove a step-function increase in revenues and click-through lift, architected the AI Natural Language Processing (NLP) solution powering the Ask Amex bot, modernized the enterprise self-serve ML platform, and consolidated the modeling data pipeline to a single quality managed ecosystem. Anthony also spearheaded doubling the data science team in support of these initiatives.
Prior to this role, Anthony led the enhancement and consolidation of all AI-powering Amex proprietary digital channels. He upskilled the Decision Science teams in New York and Gurgaon, partnered with technology teams to modernize the legacy data platforms, and accelerate revenue growth. Using a staged test-and-learn program, he launched a first-of-its-kind sales team for small business. He also created the model-driven investment optimization framework, buyer/supplier graph network detection, pre-attrition strategy, sales team tools, and new modeling methodologies to estimate small business P&L and supply chain wallet. In his early days with Amex, Anthony led the global initiative to transform customer engagement across emerging digital channels by updating modeling decision engines and other personalization solutions.
Anthony launched his career as a Manager with Inductis LLC (an EXL Company) and an Associate with Mitchell Madison Group in New York. Respected as a true influencer and thought leader in the applied AI space, Anthony has been interviewed as a subject matter expert in various publications and podcasts. He earned a master’s degree in Data Science from Northwestern University, an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business; and a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University.
Anthony lives in Brooklyn with his wife and three children. Outside of work he enjoys traveling, reading, anthropology, and pursuing all things healthy living.
