INM is proud to welcome Brent Bauer, MD, as the newest member of its Honorary Board. Dr. Bauer, a professor of medicine and longtime research director of the Integrative Medicine Program at Mayo Clinic, brings more than 30 years of leadership and scientific rigor in integrative health.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Bauer over the past decade and regard him as one of the most intelligent and thoughtful voices in integrative medicine,” says INM board member Jacqueline Jacques, ND. “As we move into a new era of whole-person health, I am confident his experience will significantly elevate the conversation.”

Dr. Bauer has shaped and expanded the evidence base for integrative therapies with over 200 peer-reviewed publications, multiple book chapters, and editorial guidance of the Mayo Clinic Guide to Integrative Medicine and Mayo Clinic Guide to Holistic Health. He founded Mayo’s Integrative Medicine Program and is the former medical director of Rejuvenate, Mayo Clinic’s first spa. An active contributor to clinical research on complementary therapies, Dr. Bauer exemplifies the fusion of science and whole-person care.

“In 1928,” says Dr. Bauer, “Dr. William J. Mayo, one of the founders of the Mayo Clinic, said ‘the aim of medicine is to prevent disease and prolong life; the ideal of medicine is to eliminate the need of a physician.’ Today, 98 years later, we are close to realizing that vision. Through a combination of enhanced cross-disciplinary collaboration and a population that is increasingly engaged and informed, optimizing health for all is in reach.”

This honorary appointment reflects INM’s efforts to advance public education and build bridges across leading medical and academic institutions. “Dr. Bauer’s contributions to integrative medicine are unparalleled,” says President and CEO Michelle Simon, PhD, ND. “His collaboration will help us further our mission of bringing whole-person health  into mainstream conversations through scientific validation and cross-disciplinary partnerships.”
