State & Local PR Campaigns

The scope and licensure of naturopathic doctors varies greatly state by state in the U.S. With such varied laws and infrastructure, it’s important for there to be a robust public professional presence for naturopathic medicine at their local levels. There are continuing efforts to increase access to licensed naturopathic doctors at the state level, such as scope expansion and licensure.

As with national efforts, the key to success is strong public awareness and trust in the profession. Individualized support from the Institute for Naturopathic Medicine empowers naturopathic medicine state associations to augment and improve their public relations efforts. We use tools like placed and earned media, social media, strategic content development, public relations skills, trainings, and more to support state groups in their goals.

The end goal: reduce healthcare costs, improve healthcare outcomes.

In 2006, the Institute for Natural Medicine provided support for the successful drive to license NDs in California. Then again, in 2022, Wisconsin received licensure. Our current grassroots initiatives reside in Illinois and Florida with hopeful successes soon.

In the United States: 26 jurisdictions, including the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands all have laws regulating naturopathic doctors. Check with your state naturopathic association for specific regulations and requirements regarding scope of practice.
